Description of Treatment : EIMS
EIMS is electrical intramuscular stimulation.
The concept of this treatment is based on my experience as a medical doctor working on sports injuries and as my experience as an acupuncturist.
By combining acupuncture with electrical stimulation, the recovery time is greatly reduced. In most cases an injury that can take up to 2 months to heal normally can be reduced to roughly 15 days with just 5 or 6 sessions. A few follow up sessions are recommended.
How it Works
Every muscle strain (MSI) injury or ischemia results in cell damage. Damaged cells release intracellular substances: kinins, histamine, prostaglandins and other chemicals. The intracellular chemicals induce edema, inflammation and pain.
The inflammation process is a part of natural healing and efficient if the damage is not overwhelming or repetitive. Repetitive injuries (RSI) compromise the healing. Substantial injury requires more time for recovery, up to a few months. This is not an option for many patients.
The rehabilitation process goes slowly because of compromised venous drainage and insufficient waste product removal. Lymph and blood flow must be restored to complete the recovery. Usually every MSI or RSI is a complicated injury involving other structures attached to the muscle directly or indirectly. EIMS is designed to work on a muscle/nerve/tendon unit to restore the blood/lymph circulation and accelerate the healing process.
